Why We're Here
As a social enterprise, Kinfolk exists to build and contribute to communities. Since our inception in 2010, we've asked the very 'social enterprise' question of; how do we run a business that has a net positive impact on the world?
The answer for us was to create a space that would be a catalyst to allow people to feel a sense of inclusion and community whilst gaining employability skills. We supplement the staffing of our venues with volunteer shifts for Victorians facing marginalisation and barriers to employment - providing them with an opportunity to contribute to a community and build skills. Our ethos of 'radical inclusion' means we've built a vibrant and diverse volunteer community from all walks of life.
As a not-for-profit, all profits generated by our business pour back into the volunteer program to ensure we provide adequate support resources and tailored training so we can meet each individual on their terms.
